Whispers of Spring
In a world of ever-changing fads, security and assurance in permanence is precious. The cycle of seasons is a continuously altering, though a dependable sequence. Each passing year begins deep in the arms of winter with the cold. The world is white and colorless. All is quiet. It is a time to reflect on the year passed. Winter is a time of rest and contemplation.
As the months pass, and the sun begins to linger longer every day, the icy winds release their grip and give way to whispers of Spring…the season of new beginnings and growth. As the snow retreats, vibrant greens and yellows peek through the decomposing leaves that still permeate the air with their thick, earthy smell. Birds return to the barren trees, and the tips of branches bare tightly sealed buds.
New life and energy come with the increasing light and warmth. An urge to jump and run with the emerging growth engulfs the forest. The warm winds sweep through the low valleys chasing the snow from every crevasse. Spring begins with a whisper, then jumps to full and vivacious life.
The new vigor and liveliness of the world is heard in the songs of the birds and the gurgling of creeks. Every creature awakes to new purpose. Deer venture more boldly into the valley, the breeze dances and taunts the trees, freshly stirred from their sleep. The quietness of winter collides with the vigor of summer. This season of rushing excitement will soon mellow into the easy days of summer, full of warm and bustle. Embrace this season, do not spend this precious time looking forward to the next change. Every day is as it should be, perfectly in tune with its time in the year. Each new breath of life and small sign of emerging growth should be embraced while it lasts.
Lately I have found myself always looking forward to the next season, eagerly awaiting the end of the present weather. Throughout the last weeks of winter, I “couldn’t wait” for spring. My goal through this next unique time of change is to embrace every day, each in its time. The days are precious, they should be treasured, not mindlessly muddled away in hopes for something better. Times of rest are essential, so are times of action and work. With new life, I will embrace a new mindset, appreciating each day in its fullness of beauty.
